The Art History students' midterm was to choose a postcard of one of the artworks they have seen and re-create it in a photograph, using other students and objects as the models. There were prizes for the best recreation and for the funniest recreation, which the staff voted upon by raising a spoon with a piece of paper attached to the end, indicating their choice. The one with the most votes won. Gabby won best overall, having taking a picture of several students recreating Botticelli's The Birth of Venus. For funniest, Jake won props for modeling Donatello's David...and happily donned a pair of Michelangelo's David skivvies, which if you have ever walked through the San Lorenzo Market, you will know of what I speak! The popular vote, given by the students, elected a photo-portrait of Liberte, which is absolutely stunning. Looking at it from more than a few feet away, you'd believe it was a painting, not a photograph.
Che bravi artisti!
